Fuel management

The control of fuel consumption may be a good tool to cut the costs of transportation. A fleet manager can see how much petrol is demanded to cover a usual route by your vans and trucks. You also can control fill-ups and fuel draining for your fleet units.

In this case, the main challenges are:

  • Fuel cheating prevention – direct fuel theft and providing fake bills by drivers and mechanics
  • Accurate calculation of fuel recourses – for business arithmetic and accounting
  • Greener fleet and lower CO emissions – to meet the eco-standards in industry and country

According to studies fuel expenses may amount up to 40% of all business cost. To manage this resource efficiently it is necessary to measure all fuel-related costs with high accuracy. There are several practical approaches for this goal, based on the following technical solutions:

  • Fuel level sensors – systems that allow to measure current volume of fuel in vehicle’s tanks, retrieve information about refuellings, drains and consumption by analyzing its change in time
  • Fuel flow meters – measure how much fuel passes through the fuel line to engine
  • CAN/OBD fuel data – reading data from vehicle’s onboard electronics about fuel consumption and fuel level
